By now, you know that communication happens during every activity, all day long, and in every environment. Some staff jump on board with this movement while others drag their heels and expect the SLPs to do it all. How do you break out of the “that’s how we’ve always done it” rut? Or how about the “there’s just too much on my plate already”? We’ve heard it all and have overcome a lot to build up AAC use as the norm and not as the exception. In this session, an SLP and an OTA will share their experience building capacity of AAC use in a center-based program and attempting to shift the beliefs in local districts within the county. You’ll hear what worked, what didn’t, and be able to provide your own experiences and brainstorm with the support of other AAC implementers.
